Until the year of 2007 all the Brazilians happily celebrated on October 12th the Children's Day. Gifts were distributed, treats were made and the joy was in the air. All the Naturist areas was not different, a lot of joy and fun and too many children around.

This year the Brazilians also celebrated the Children's Day, there was many celebrations in everywhere, but Naturist areas ...

No official program was designed or carried out in any Naturist area in Brazil. No one simple note from the "self-called" Direction of the FBrN was made.

Where are the children of Nemo?

Nemo have seven children - a half Indian - half African guy that many people believe that is my brother. His skin color, face, hair style, physique, everything are very similar to me. Exactly two years ago, they - the children of Nemo - were all here, in my little farm, in a family gathering to celebrate the children’s day. (In Brazil the celebration of the Children’s Day is at October 12th)

What a joyful day. I remember that Nemo, the father of seven kids, spend all that day talking with me, promising, among other things, that some day he would be a naturist and that he, like everyone else in that day, would bathe naked in the stream. Nazareth, his wife, with the smallest child in her arms, was helping Eliane, my wife, to prepare the food for all that hungry kids. Children, ragged dressed, that usually are hidden only in his underwear and hers panties, were playing manjale (an Amazonian Indian game) and bathing in the cold and muddy stream’s water. But there was one child who removed the clothes and stood naked at the side of her father. The clothes, the rain, the heat and the humidity produced a lot of rashes in the body of that child. It, really, was a very poor family, and there were days that they had nothing to eat. And just in that day - The Children’s Day - our table was plentiful for all of them.

Balls, dolls, clothes... I do not know where, and how, Eliane found so many gifts to give to the children of Nemo.

Wow - she explained - "I always talk about these children with my friends, and that is the result of it.

I love these children. If I could, I would adopt some of them. "But my first priority was to feed all those children.”

And every time we went to my little farm, we are carrying bags of toasted bread for the kids. Moreover, Eliane had the idea of “charging” one admission fee (for all the Naturists that came here for the GRAUNA’s [Manaus Naturist Group] meetings) as one kilo of non-perishable food.

All the Naturists were working together (some of them bringing more than one kilo) and everything was delivered to the children of Nemo.

But from last year, this picture changed. The Family Naturism in Brazil had suffered a mortal attack and the presence of children in the Naturists Areas, after an absurd and untrue accusation of some “self called naturists” against the president of FBrN (Brazilian Naturist Federation), came to be questioned by the courts. It was the straw that was needed to bring down on the Naturism a lot of questions about involving the children in this lifestyle. And, because it, the Family Naturism started to be seen by the society as a breeding ground ready to encourage the practice of pedophilia and abuse against children. Give gifts, celebrate birthdays, or help and feed the malnourished children that surround the naturist areas, was seen as evidence of pedophilia and therefore punishable with prison.

Fearing about the children, the Family Naturism kicked. In GRAUNA, the reaction was immediately. The seven kids of Nemo were instructed to no longer attend to our Naturist site. Desolate, they started attending the nearby small farms, where they found a bunch of drunks, junkies and lots of sex. Eliane, concerned about the future of those children, tried to warn the parents without results.

The oldest girl of Nemo began to steal. Complaints against all the children of Nemo start to come from everywhere. Finally, the whole family disappeared. And anyone never saw the smile of those children again.

To illustrate this text I thought of putting a photo of the children of Nemo, collecting fruits with Eliane, at our small farm. In the photo that I have, those children was barefoot and in rags but were showing a huge smile and they were really happy. But my sense recommends me to applied black stripes on their faces to protect their identity and dignity. And this would leave hidden just what I was trying to show: the smile of the children of Nemo, collecting fruits in our Naturist place. It’s better to not put a photo, I thought…

And, as occurred with the Family Naturism, I gave up the idea. I gave up the children’s picture for this text. And I gave up with the children’s day for the GRAUNA.

Today we have a “Family Naturism in Brazil” without children. The naturism became an “adult’s only recreation” and, as a porn film, started to show at the opening the fateful message: "Forbidden for under 18”. For these things, and others, that I gasp when I read the official Naturist reports saying that the Brazilian’s Naturism is in its better phase. A phase of success! What a success...

Eliane and I are now at our small farm alone. Today is the Children’s Day. Our farm is empty. While I draft this text I can hear the laughter of kids playing in the neighborhood. Laughs of children mixed with the loud sound of the music that says: "Suck it! It’s grape!” (A Brazilian music that has one ambiguous lyric that could be talking about drinking a juice or doing an oral sex) Yelling of children mixed with the laughs of drunken people.

Today is the Children’s Day. My small farm has no more Children. The GRAUNA’s meetings have no more children… Where are the gifts? Where are the treats? Where are the smiles? Where are the children of Nemo?
